Engine Power’s Pat Topolinski and Mike Galley got a tired 350 from their pals at Detroit Muscle with instructions to give it some beans for DM’s 1969 Camaro project. What they got was an engine that made 247 hp on the dyno and needed everything, right down to the block. What Detroit Muscle got back was a muscular small block that made 442 hp and 442 lbs.-ft. of torque.

After discovering some cracks in the original 350’s block, Pat and Mike scrapped the idea of rebuilding it. They pulled a late model Vortec block out of their stash, bored it .060 in. over, and installed a new rotating assembly—Scat cast crank and I-beam connecting rods, Icon forged pistons, and Total Seal Maxseal gapless rings. Our Engine Power Nifty 350 short block combos include the rotating assembly components plus an Allstar Performance rear main seal adapter kit and Fel-Pro gasket kit to convert the block’s one-piece seal to a 2-piece to accommodate the crankshaft.

Other parts include Clevite main, rod, and cam bearings; a Trick Flow® billet timing set; a Cloyes 2-piece timing cover; and a Summit Racing™ harmonic balancer.
